Kuznice - this is what we see after leaving the underground bus station.
Kuznice Interchange - the underground bus station in Kuznice was finished and opened for travellers in August 2024. The Przewodnikow Tatrzanskich Avenue leading from the Jana Pawla II roundabout to is closed to car traffic. Walking from the Jana Pawla II roundabout to Kuznicetakes about 40 minutes (about 2 km), all the time uphill. The minibus stop is located at ul. Bronisława Czecha, at the Jana Pawla II roundabout. There is a bus stop above the roundabout. Opposite the minibuses stop, there is a taxi rank, and a little further, towards the ski jumps, there is a horse-drawn carriage rank. If you are interested in a horse-drawn carriage or sleigh ride, I encourage you to choose this option on the way back - trotting down from Kuźnice is much more pleasant than slowly climbing 2 km up the hill. And don't forget to negotiate the price of the ride :)
Monument to the Tatra Couriers is dedicated to the Tatra Guides and Skiers who served as underground couriers during the II World War. One of them was my Grandfather - Marian Woyna-Orlewicz.
On sunny days in high season queuing to the tickets office can take even 3 hours.
The souvenir shop in Kuznice offers big choice of the nice souvenirs from Kasprowy Wierch.
Although Kuznice is a small part of Zakopane one will find here comfortable apartments , luxury boutique ENHOTEL , three restaurants, a sport shop with ski rental and a grocery shop.
Kuznice is a start point of many attractive hiking trials both for full day and for 1-2 hours. The easiest is wide road to Kalatowki Mountain Hotel.
I encourage everyone to walk from Kuznice to Jana Pawla II rondabout (2 km) or the center (3.5 km to Krupówki) of Zakopane, especially since the road leads downhill all the time. If you plan to walk back from Kuznice, be sure to choose the route through the Manor and Park Complex of Count Zamoyski (through the park you can go down to the Przewodnikow Tatrzanskich Street, leading to the roundabout). There you will find an outdoor photography exhibition and a small gallery, located in a former granary and dedicated to the Zamoyski family. You can see beautiful old photos of Zakopane here. At the lower exit from the Park there is a symbolic grave of unknown servant
with a cross cast from forged iron - it is one of the oldest monuments in Zakopane. After leaving the park, at Przewodnikow Tatrzanskich Street, pay attention to the Prometheus Shot Monument, designed by Wladyslaw Hasior, and the cross commemorating the place where partisans were shot in 1944. In the clearing on the other side of the street there is a shepherd's hut where you can buy in summer tasty smoked sheep cheese (oscypek)
At the shepherd's hut you can buy in summer smoked sheep cheese.
Horse drawn carriage ride down to the centre of Zakopane takes approximately 30 minutes (4km). I suggest to ask driver to follow Br. Czecha street - Pilsudskiego St. - Makuszynskiego St. and Grunwaldzka St, to the Plac Niepodleglosci, near Krupowki St. The fare is negotiable.
